Learning Unity

..So, here some update on the situation..!

I finally started diving into the noble art of game development..

This time, instead of relying on the good ol’ Actionscript 3, I decided to test what game engines have to offer.. And damn, they do have something to offer!

After an initial period of vague testing of different engines, I found a mentor that gave me some invaluable guidelines to kickstart me in the right direction.

Right now I’m learning to use the Unity game engine, following the very well written Unity Game Development Essentials book. For all of ye pirates, you can probably find the eBook out there.. I’ll save you the fun of the hunt.. :D

The book offers some very detailed tutorials about the creation of a simple First Person (argh!) game. So far it’s simply a guy walking on an island, collecting batteries and throwing coconuts.. wohoo!

..but the show must go on! ..just wait for it! :D

What are you planning on doing with this? I have some blueprints of the Steve Irwin I could help you out with if you want.

Hey ho! The main idea behind all of this work is to develop an advergame, to increase SSCS “brand” awareness, and to push some of its values to the public using gaming interaction as main tool to increase the possibilities of retention of the message branded..

Uhuh.. just had an exam about this stuff! :D

Practically speaking, ye, a nice little game. Initially, for my project exam, i developed a prototype for a flashgame (video), but now i wanted to try to add an element of perspective and realism to the whole, and to try to use the possibilities that game engines offer.

And here you come into the game..! Blueprints? Hell yeah, it would be great to have ‘em!
I’m pretty sure that everybody would expect a strong relation between the models of the game and the real “characters”, so it would be extremely helpful to have those drawings to create an accurate 3D representation of the vessels..! :)
